2023 Swiss National Day Celebrations

This year’s Swiss National Day Celebrations began on the 1st August with an evening at the Swiss Club. Members and guests came together to celebrate the day.
The evening started with the Swiss Kids participating in the annual lantern parade to Federation Square.
Members and guests then celebrated National day being welcomed by the president of the Swiss Club and the Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Melbourne, singing the national anthem and having dinner.

Sunday August the 6th saw the Matterhorn Choir run their annual Swiss National Day Picnic. This year’s event was held at the Upper Ferntree Gully Football Club. 

Several hundred people attended to sample the Swiss Grilled sausages, Raclette and Swiss pastries. After some yodeling by the Matterhorn Group, the Hon. Consul of Switzerland, Manuela Erb, welcomed everyone on behalf of Switzerland. Her speech concluded with a pre-recorded message from the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset.

The National Day picnic was a most sucessful event and winter highlight.
